Anniversary Date...

Today is an anniversary for me. On April 27, 1997, there was an ordination service at Lincoln Park Baptist Church. I listened as my father spoke on the topic of "picking up the mantle" of ministry that has been passed down in our family. There were vows taken, commitments made, and prayers offered.

My question to the reading audience is this: what does ordination mean to people who are not being ordained? What's the significance of such an event? What are the expectations that come with it? How does it change the individual? How does it change the expectations on that individual? How does it make one different?

Maybe those aren't the best questions. If not, what questions are important?

My prayers are with you, church.

Pastor Kyle

Ordained means set apart... I take it to mean that the "Ordained" person is set apart for service, so others can ask them for help/assistance in life as needed. I am just trying to see if I can get this to post on your blog site! Hope it works. Oh, have you seen The Keys of the Kingdom? Gregory Peck is in it. Melinda rec'd it for her birthday, you may enjoy it. KD

I think it posted, but my explanation of "ordained" wasn't that good... ;>) more like service to help others in need and to set example for others... I've got some work to do on that!! kd

Thanks, Kent. Any further thoughts?

I agree with Kent. I see ordained as sanctified or set aside for service to the Lord. I'm sure it can be quite a burden if one is trying hard not to fail at this obligation. But one need only to remember they are walking in Grace and God will bless the honest sacrifice and effort given to Him.

Happy Anniversary! Dj
